From a point of view, it depends. Remember that prision? That POW Prison where the Iraqi soldiers were tormented and shit? THIS IS NOT POLITICAL. THIS IS DESTRUCTION TO HUMAN BEINGS. It could be about destruction sakes in some ways. If we are trying to REBUILD Iraq, then why do we keep dropping bombs on citys? Because thats where the bad guys are. We drop bombs on the bad guys. The bad guys die. The US infantrymen gain a few more yards. It's how wars are fought, and have been fought for centuries. Nothing different or more awful about it now then a hundred years ago. the real problem is we're not dropping enough bombs. Iraq would be a much different city today if god damn politics didn't get in the way of the military and the government itself. and Hock, just as an FYI. Good old Saddamy had WMD's. We know this because he used them before on his own people. there's also strong evidence suggesting that many of these WMD's were moved out of Iraq before the war to neighboring countries in an effort to cause political upset back home (In which they succeeded.) Hell, Clinton knew he had WMD's, hence why Navy and Air Force pilots hit Iraqi hard targets all over iraq in the 90's. Alright Mik. I know he had WMD's and used them on his own people. That was what, 17 years ago? Did he use them on us? No. I have no problems with the bomb dropping and shit. That is part of war. But today, the conflict in Iraq is not even a war. You can label it as a "conflict,"siege"(Don't know about that one),"religious battle", and a "political battle".

Why are we arguing about Iraq?

Knowing me and my crazy ways, I brought it up. But this has somewhat to do with peace.

We were talking about how wars are not all about destruction. And you brought up Iraq. Were you going to convince me that Iraq is a war only about destruction for destruction's sake?

No, I was getting at that Iraq had its purposes, and they keep changing.

Well then you've proven my point. What the purposes are is irrelevant to this conversation. The fact that it had a purpose that was other then just destruction means that saying the opposite of war is creation is overly simplistic and ultimately incorrect.

Okay, well then. We have our different opinions and our voices dont count in the government, but it was a good debate...

True Peace can exist... well I haven't really read the topic though. Peace between everyone is impossible. Peace can exist, look at the peace between United States and Canada...

You get to call it a conflict or a political battle here at home in your nice cozy computer chair. But to those soldiers, their fighting a war. A War that's increasingly difficult because those soldiers can only fight with a portion of the strength available to them. and the purpose hasn't changed for the past 10 years when Clinton started bombing away, although CNN would rather you not figure that out. Remove the bad guy Saddam and install a Democracy and earn Democratic countries and states another foothold in a very dangerous land so we don't have to depend on Israel for everything. If anyone says anything other then that, it's politics.

No shit they are fighting a war. Most marines I talk to are brainwashed. Brainwashed? You honestly believe people can be brainwashed? Let me tell you one thing. Those 10 weeks of basic training are spent learning how to fight and kill, not being brainwashed. Those Marines you talk to know what the hell is going on, they've been there. So while their busy getting shot at and avoiding road side bombs, training the Iraqi military, protecting their buddies, and having the odd RPG fired at them here and there, you have the nerve to tell them and us that their not in a War. Oh no, all those dead infantrymen, family men and friends died fighting JUST a "Conflict" or JUST a "religious battle." So these guys come back to base after a long day of killing and being killed, they log onto the internet and one of them finds this thread. And to his surprise, he finds out that he's not fighting this war for his Commanding officer. He's not fighting this war to protect his buddies and squadmates. He's night fighting this war for the betterment of a people. No, he's fighting, because he's been brainwashed. You sir have a lot of nerve, and very little respect for those guys.

Fuck you. Never tell me that I don't respect the guys over there. Never say that to me again. Apparently, you misunderstand me dumbass. What I mean is when I talk to them why they are over there because of the stupid president, they say that he's a good man AFTER they said before that hes a dumbass. Never tell me again that I have no respect for those boys over there. I just have no respect for the man who put them over there.
