A weapon, by definition is a thing design or used to inflicted bodily harm or physical damage.
So therefore the Force is a weapon. A book could be a weapon if dropped from a high distance. Along with a superlaser or a virus. A Gizka Bomb with realized Gizka to eating all the food of a planet could be considered a weapon.
The GREAT O has spoken.

Taken from Wiktionary:
Weapon: an instrument of attack or defense in combat, e.g. a gun, missile, or sword
Now tell me, is the Force like a gun, missile, or sword? Can it be held? Can it sold? etc.
It's a Form of Combat, not a weapon. Jeez, do I need to start another thread for this exact argument?

Taken from Random House Webster's College Dictionary: (I.E. A source that is more creditable sense not everyone can modify it):
1. any instrument or device used for attack or defense in a fight or in combat. 2. anything used against an opponent, adversary, or victim. 3. any part or organ serving for attack or defense, as claws, horns, teeth, or stings.
SO by the Second and third possible definitions of a weapon, the Force can also be considered a weapon.
Case closed because of a creditable sources.

Taken from Wiktionary: Weapon: an instrument of attack or defense in combat, e.g. a gun, missile, or swordNow tell me, is the Force like a gun, missile, or sword? Can it be held? Can it sold? etc. It's a Form of Combat, not a weapon. Jeez, do I need to start another thread for this exact argument? Alright man.... the force is an INSTRUMENT a TOOL, look at the freaken sith for christ sakes. They beleive the force is a TOOL, AKA INSTRUMENT, in which to do their bidding. Now the force can be used to ATTACK, aka force lighting, telekensis, or any other form of agressive move of the force such as plauge or drain. and it can be used defensively, Battle meditiation, force speed, and it can be used to stop laser fire, or redirrect laser fire or even force lightning. That's defensive.... now Hmm..... you can use the force in combat. <.< Thus it's a tool you use in combat, and therefore a weapon. Let me qoute vader here for a second, when he is refering to the death star's superlaser. "The power to destroy an enter planet is insegnifagent next to the power of the force." Aka the force is a weapon more powerful then anything else. =P Even a superlaser. Now the force CAN act like a gun, it can send projectiles at people, it can act like a missle. (force wave) and explode everything outwards, and it CAN act like a sword and cut people up. IT can be used like a blunt object too, to crush their bodies, like a huge rock slamming against their chest would do. It CAN work like a virus, and make them feel ill. any form of weapon you can name the force can do it pretty much. And YES the force can be SOLD. Jik my character right now is "buying" the force so to speak. Jik just happens to be trading his soul you might say to learn how to use the force. >.> so yes, it can be sold under the right cercumstances. Also the force CAN be held, after all it FLOWS through your body.

I agree with the whole force is a weapon thing, but the force can't be held Z. >.>
And how can the force cut something up like a sword?
Edit: AND now that I read your post again Z, just because you can buy force powers here doesn't mean you can buy the force. This is an RP, I think we're talking about the actual star wars universe, if it were real.

Taken from Wiktionary: Weapon: an instrument of attack or defense in combat, e.g. a gun, missile, or swordGun, missile and sword are just real world examples given here. Weapon is not limited to these things. But the definition is correct, an instrument of attack or defense. That has nothing to do with the definition you gave nor is it important according to that definition. The question you should be asking is "Is the force an instrument that can be used for attack or defense?" The answer is yes. How is it a form of combat? You're saying that the force, in the raw sense of it as a physical force that pushes, moves, chokes, and zaps is a form of combat... as opposed to saying the Jedi Code is a form of combat based on the force, or the Dark Side is a form of combat based on the force. The force itself is not the combat form, how it is used is the combat form. Which goes for all other weapons as well... the sword is not a combat form, how it is used is. You pickin up what I'm layin down here?

Edit: AND now that I read your post again Z, just because you can buy force powers here doesn't mean you can buy the force. This is an RP, I think we're talking about the actual star wars universe, if it were real. No.... Jik is literaly BUYING the force. by having it tuaght to him by Dred akunin monkey, he is basicaly selling his soul for the force, thus dred akunin gets a new member, and i get the force, thus i "bought" it. If you read my post i thought this was clear.... Yes the force can be weilded, there is a move that allows you to surround the force around your hand, a stick or a vibroblade to give it properties of a lightsaber, thus i say you can summon the force to an area of you, and weild it. The force can be held, you just can't usualy SEE it. Now for the cutting part, when they give the properties of a lightsaber to a stick, or say their hand, they can i beleive not 100% sure, cut people with the force around the stick, or hand. >.> obviously a vibroblade cuts so i'm not mentioning that. Anyways, the force can do almost anything, youshould know this monkey.

Ok, ok. Sheesh, you guys really won't give up on an argument.
Let's just agree that the Force is a form of combat where the weapon used is the Force. Deal?

Well if you look at gall's post alone, he has you beat by a better source, AND 2 outta 3 definations. Thus the force is a weapon. The form of combat with the force is different, if you've ever heard of force FORMS, from kotor 2. =P
