Double-blades on a single hilt, all the way. A true master can use two of them.

Yes, but, if you've ever read "Darth Bane: Path of Destruction" you'd know that it LIMITS your abilities. It just LOOKS intimidating if you've never used it because you don't know what it can possibly do. THAT is why it over whelms. It is a rare weapon that is rarely seen, studied or used. Thus few know of its powers and limitations.

Yes. Double blades lightsabers don't give the weilder more options, it just makes the opponent think it does. Good book btw.

I voted single because most of the best of both the dark and light use single and it is the easist to learn so you can master the basics fast and move on faster than the other types

Ok, I went duel wielding. This is due to my interest in the Samurai of old and Iaijutsu. Following on this theme, I would want the lightsaber in my off hand to have a shorter blade, so that I am wielding two lightsabers that mimic the wielding of a katana and wakizashi.

except the reason for having a Katana in one hand and a wakizashi in the other doesn't apply to lightsabers. A lightsaber blade has negligible weight, they cut through just about anything like butter and all the leverage must be applied at the hilt through the wrist. So go bananas, have two sabers the same length in each hand, it makes no difference.

yes, what mik said.
Though double bladers are resitricted it doesnt make it less usefull. If anything the 2 blades makes it easier to keep a constant flow of attack's even when spinning around or fighting backwards, if you're really good with double blades. Personaly i like the way the double blade's look, and what you can do with it, i dont know if i would choose double blade if i had to become a jedi.

I'd have to say i'm more of a fan of double-bladed lightsabers. They can split off, effectively forming two single lightsabers (albeit with a less balanced hilt, i assume) or you can hold them in one hand temporarily to fire off a Force Power with your now-free hand.
It's just that since the main focus has always been on single hilt lightsabers (i can't remember last seeing a double blader apart from Exar Kun and Darth Maul) so logically, they lack options when it comes to Forms. They own if you want a wide arc of attack though.
Also, mik, i'd disagree with you. A short bladed lightsaber also has a shorter 'ideal range', making it perfect in close quarters where a normal length lightsaber (or a double blader) requires more room to effectively use. Kind of stabbing a person with a dagger while standing too close to him for using his greatsword on you.
Katana-wakizashi style double lightsabers work, it just depends on how close you intend to fight your opponent.

Kind of stabbing a person with a dagger while standing too close to him for using his greatsword on you. ok, A: Thats why you have your vibroblade on your belt. B: Since sabers can cut through anything, what close qarters do you have to worry about? unless your in a tight hallway made of Cortosis or energy fields, your long ass saber can just cut people and walls up indescriminatly. Of coarse, that might not be the best idea on a thin hulled spaceship, but that just takes me back to A. C: Short of supprise attack, how the hell are you going to use a dagger on a dude with a broadsword? Sure saying i'll just get in close with my dagger sounds ok on paper (or in this case, the computer screen) but you kind have to think about how your going to get passed the big long reach of that broadsword in order to get in close. D: I'd just use a gun. as i'm quite fond of saying. bringing a sword to a gunfight is a good way of getting shot.

A: So how does a vibroblade help you, when your opponent wants to stab you in the face with a lightsaber? B: Things have range. Larger swords mean larger arcs of attack, whereas shorter swords mean more mobility and attack speed. Even disregarding weight and balance as a factor, you just can't use a greatsword as you would a dagger, and claiming otherwise would be... rather silly. Trapping (Martial Arts)Bigger is not always better. If it were, everyone in Star Wars would go for ten foot lightsabers. C: Again, speed. Your 'lightdagger' is also a lightsaber type, which means it can block the other guy's broadsword swings (though it'd require more effort, admittedly). Because his 'effective range' is larger than yours, he has the advantage until you can get in closer, and then he's pretty much f***ed because your dagger is short enough to be used as a very close range piercing weapon, whereas his bigass sword relies on slashing attacks that are unusable at grappling range. Result: broadsword dude gets stabbed, Game Over. But since you insist... Feint, dodge swing, close distance while his arms still have momentum from his attack and stab. D: Unless that sword and the person wielding it happen to be able to deflect those shots back at you, i'd tend to agree with you there .
