if you just looking at the movies, No
the movies detail Anakins rise and fall. He is the Chose one.
if you look into the EU as well, then it swings both ways. They both could be the Chosen one and Neither of them could be.

Anakin (Darth Vader) brought balance to the force when he killed himself and Darth Sidious; the sith master and the apprentice.

well like i said. if your just looking at the movies, anakin is the chosen one by killing the emperor, eliminating the sith and bringing ultimate balance to the force.
but those who study the EU know that the emperor didn't die there. He was killed much later. And even after that, the Sith return... even if they return in an awful comic book series.

That was just to make more money. Really for me, episode VI was a fitting end to the saga. I bet a lot of you will hate me for saying this, but after episode VI the universe got so screwed up not even Darth Maul returning could save it. I wish George Lucas would tell people to leave the universe as it is. Just finish it, there is enough for roleplayers like us to create a new story. And sometimes, I think the stuff people roleplay makes more sense than what is coming out now. But that is just me, and I went WAY off topic, sorry but it had to be done.

No, it didn't have to be done. EU rules! Anyways....
Anikan was the Chosen One. Prooven and done. Although, the term balance is kinda used badly here. Having all lightsiders and no darkness ain't exactly Balance. May be how a Jedi sees 'balance' but, if one looked at it as bringing Dark and Light to equal standards. I mean, there were as many Dark Jedi in the service of the Empire as there were Jedi in hiding from the Empire at the time, right? Jedi Balance: Light ruling Everything, dark feeding off what little scraps it gets but never being on top. Sith Balance: Screw the Balance, we have power. Kumori Balance: I don't even think they know anymore. But, they can walk through shadows, and that's why people keep joining. lol. My Balance: Same amount of Good as Evil, Dark as Light. And in that Light, Vader brought Balance with a blade in one hand, and the body of thousands at his feet.
AKA: My version of what "Balance" entails more murder. Balance could only be achieved through being a Sith. Jedi, be afraid of me. lol

i think it could go both ways, Anakin was the first one to kill the emporer, but then Luke killed him again, I guess it depends on your perspective
