Hello all and welcome to Star Wars: The Brotherhood of Darkness. I know you are all eager to get started and just find out where you need to go to post a character profile, but like all forums there are some rules here that all members need to follow.
Table of Contents
Section 1: Forum Rules
Section 2: BHOD RP Rules
Section 3: Story Rules
Section 4: Useful Links
Section 1: Forum Rules
These rules apply everywhere on this forum.
1. Do not spam. Spam on this site is considered any thread that lacks any point of discussion or is inappropriate for Proboards. Also any posts of just one word are considered spam. Please do not reply to any obvious spam threads, if the first post should never have been made then any replies to it are also considered spam.
2. Post all threads in the proper location. For example introductions in the "Welcome board" debate topics in the "Debate category" etc. If there is not clear area for your thread then you probably shouldn't be posting it. (Of course the Brotherhood's Temple is always a safe bet)
3. Please do not advertise here. The only place you may advertise is in your signature. If you'd like to Affiliate then you may create a thread in the Affiliate Board.
4. Please keep any images in your signature under 600x300 pixels in size. The reason being that any larger would stretch the screen every time you post and slows down loading time.
5. Respect other members opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and should not be made to change theirs just because you do not agree with it. When having a debate or discussion try and keep things civil and realize that not everyone is going to agree.
6. When it comes to the contents of what you post, please try and follow the TOS and keep things generally PG-13 rated.
7. Only one account is permitted per member unless given special permission to do otherwise.
Section 2: BHOD RP Rules
These rules apply within the "Brotherhood RP" boards.
1. No God Modding! Do not control anyone else's character without permission. Do not do anything beyond the reasonable limits of your character's power. Do not use items, feats or powers you don't have.
2. As it pertains to killing someone else's character. In this RP every participant is given stats. These stats determine what you can and cannot do in a combat situation. You are allowed to kill someone elses character as long as you have given them a chance to defend themselves and/or it has become impossible for them to defend against your attack. Around here we call this the "right to defend" rule. Remember that no matter what your opponent posts before you, you always have the right to try and defend yourself so long as you can reasonably do so. If there is a dispute over this then please consult an Admin for assistance. Once a character dies that character is dead. You must then make a new character. You are allowed to keep the XP from your old character and use it to make a new one.
3. When introducing a new idea to this forum you MUST have it cleared in the New Ideas board by a Staff Member before you can use it in the RP. What qualifies as a "New Idea" is anything not found canonically anywhere in the Star Wars or current BHOD universe.
4. About earning XP (Experience Points) and credits. All members gain credits and XP everytime they post (10 credits and 3XP per post). Additional XP can be earned through battles. In order to gain XP from a battle you must be battling another members player character. Battling NPC's does not give any XP. After you've beaten another player PM an admin with a link to the thread so that they can give you your XP. Here is the formula for determining how much XP a character receives from a battle.
x = loser's level
y = winner's level
x/y * 100 = XP given
Basically the loser's level divided by the winner's level, times one hundred is the amount of XP a player receives for a member vs. member battle. In the event that there are more then two participants, the winners will receive XP for each player character they've defeated. Losers do not receive any XP.
XP can also be earned through sending in your plot outline every Saturday for 100XP. And finally it can be earned by completing Special Missions. Characters level up with every 1,000 XP earned.
Credits can be earned by completing Special Missions as well or by joining a faction. Check out the Current Factions thread to see what factions there are to join and what the wages are. Finally you can earn credits by selling ships you own back to the Forum from the same place you bought them. (Anything you buy can be sold back for 50% of the original price)
5. Members are allowed to own only one Flagship per player character (A maximum of two per member).
6. Don't be in two places at once. For example you shouldn't be in a fight on Tatooine and at the same time on a mission on Hoth. In order to avoid confusion about your character's location, please post as you arrive and leave each new planet.
7. In the RP you ARE NOT, I repeat, ARE NOT allowed to delete or modify what you have posted once someone has posted after you. You can't change the past in real life, and you can't change it here. What's done is done. You may change spelling errors and things of this sort, but nothing specific about your actions.
8. You are allowed to create as many as 3 characters to have stats with. You are allowed to create additional characters as NPC's or Non Player Characters. In order to use NPC's in battle you must have the permission of all other participating members.
9. Gaining Force Sensitivity. For Non Force User classes to become Force users they must first gain force sensitivity. In order to do this your character must undertake four trials...
I. Trial of Skill: This trial is achieved through combat with a strong opponent. An apprentice must be sufficiently trained as a warrior, demonstrating a working knowledge and mastery of combat. The training for this trial is usually lightsaber training.
II. Trial of the Flesh: This trial is achieved by the apprentice overcoming great physical pain, hardship or loss. Examples being severe injuries or the loss of persons close to your character.
III. Trial of Courage: This trial is achieved when an apprentice fights courageously in battle against great odds and defeating a superior enemy. This can be a foe of a significantly higher level or many many foes at once.
IV. Trial of Spirit (The Mirror): The last trial is achieved when an apprentice looks deep within themselves and face their inner darkness. Often an apprentice will not like what they see. An example of this trial would be Luke Skywalker's vision in the Dark Side Cave on Dagobah.
Once these trials are completed a character will gain full force sensitivity. At this point that character's class will be changed from a Non force user class to a Force Sensitive one. All previous bonus' and Feats granted by the old Non Force user class will no longer be able to be used.
10. Force Training. In order to use specific force abilities you have to be trained to use them by masters who already know those abilities. Training should be greatly detailed and the user should know exactly how a power works before they are able to use it.
Section 3: Story Rules
These rules apply within the "Stories/Fanfictions" boards.
1. All stories in the Main and Solo Story boards must be about Star Wars. Any other go into the Other Stories board.
2. When posting in the Other Stories board please specify whether or not you want it to be solo or for everyone to participate in.
3. No god modding. Do not control anyone elses character in your post unless you have been given permission to do so.
4. No Killing anyone else's character without their permission first.
5. In the stories just as with the RP you ARE NOT allowed to delete or modify what you have posted once someone has posted after you. You may change spelling errors and things of this sort, but nothing specific about your actions.
