The Polar Star exited hyperspace over the planet Cal. Commander Jones stood on the bridge with Sarah and Senator Boshor. The Senator looked down at the planet with a curious look on his face.
Sarah looked down on the planet with a slight smile on her face. "Commander, prepare a shuttle for me please." Sarah said.
"of coarse my lady. I'll get a marine team ready to escort the two of us on the surface." Commander jones said.
She smiled and shook her head. "oh no, commander Jones, that won't be necessary. I'll just need a pilot and a ship."
Disappointed, commander jones nodded and turned away to carry out his orders.

Sarah set foot on the planet of Cal. She stepped off the ramp to the shuttle onto the soft dirt that had only a few weeks ago been bombarded from orbit. The signs of battle were all around. The remains of the Sledgehammer class battlecruiser littered the ground. Scorched craters were scattered around the ground for miles.
At first she was worried that what she was looking for might not be here, but she felt it through the force. The presence of a powerful mind, the kind of mind that could only be made through the collective brains of a large group.
She approached the hole left in the ground left from the battlecruisers crash. The Killik cave system that had been dug under the cruisers wreckage was still intact, or had been recently rebuilt by the surviving Killiks.
Sarah used the force to float herself down into the tunnels. It would take some time to find enough Killiks to allow her to directly influence the hive mind.

Sarah walked through the tunnels, scrapping her bone wings against the walls of the tunnel. She had past a few worker Kiliks along the way. they were following her now, after she'd impressed her will on them. Still it wasn't enough, she needed more to influence the hive mind enough.
She was begining to doubt there were enough Kiliks here to form even a small nest. the orbital bombardment might have only left a few workers behind, and while that news didn't bode well for her, it was only a setback. According to the report made by then Admiral Gabriel Tupalov, there were several hive ships, this being the only one that had followed the Galactica back from the deep unknown regions.
She came across another Kilik, this one larger, a warrior. It was standing guard over a particular offshoot into another tunnel. The insect cocked it's head to the side and gazed at Sarah ready to attack at a moment notice.
Making no hostile movements, Sarah knelt down next to it and reached out. Gliding her hand across the insects outer carapace, she slowly stroked the warrior, gently probing into the insects mind. She continued to stroke the warrior, moving to it's arms, slowly rubbing the thin insectile arms, brushing her hands against the coarse hairs. She probed this one little warriors little corner of the Hive mind, gently pushing suggestions in, sending out a wave of calm and serenity.
Soon the warrior nuzzled into Sarah as she stroked it. She smiled and patted it on the head before standing up. The warrior stood aside, granting her access to the new section of tunnels. Sarah continued to smile and started down the new path, the warrior following behind, joining the few worker Kiliks.

Sarah walked through the tunnels, now being followed by a mass of workers and warriors. All of them attracted to her scent. She walked, brushing her hands against the nesting material used to keep the tunnels stable. She no longer had to focus on each individual Kilik to attract it to her, now the other Kiliks were doing the work for her by communicating with the other kiliks across the hive mind.
She was almost there. Just a few more and the hive mind would bend to her will. She only needed a few more and the Kiliks would become a part of her, and by extension, any Joiners that might fall under their sway.
A smile came to her lips. This nest was only the beginning, soon they would reproduce into a larger nest, and she would launch an expedition into unknown space to find more, and bring other nests into her fold.

Sarah walked through the tunnels until she came to her final destination. The birthing chamber was glorious and spectacular, just as she envisioned it would be.
Workers scurried about, moving eggs to an fro, warriors stood guard over the chamber and fertile males were busy fertilizing the beds of eggs. Sarah smiled and wasted no time. Those Kiliks that were following her turned and headed out into the birthing chamber to spread her pheromones.
She knelt down next to a cluster of eggs and gently rested her hand in the nutrient bath they eggs laid in. Ripples spread out from where her hand broke the waters surface. Next she rested her other hand in the same pool. Letting her secretions expel from her hands into the pool, and putting her pheromone emitters on overdrive she would soon be touching every mind in the room chemically as well as telepathically.

Sarah walked out of the nest tunnels with a gaggle of Kiliks behind her. The hive mind was under her will now, the Kiliks of the nest no longer had a collective mind of their own, everything they thought or did was influenced by her pheromones and her telepathic field.
the nest of only a few dozen or so Kiliks sped ahead of her to the shuttle and boarded it. The pilot, scared for his life pulled his sidearm but Sarah touched his mind, filling him with calmness and appreciation for these life forms and their glorious single mind. The pilot holstered his weapon and turned back to his piloting console. The Kiliks piled on board, crawling into every nook and every cranny, dozens filling into the passenger cabin.
The smaller ones piled into the shuttles access ports and maintenance compartments. She sat down in a passenger seat and signaled the pilot to continue powering up the engines.
"We'll head back to the Polar Star now. I found the important thing." Sarah said.
The pilot smiled and took off. He really liked piloting Sarah around for some reason. He hated being a chauffeur for people but for some reason it was different for Sarah. Maybe the captain would allow him to be her personal pilot.
