Returning once again to Chinine, Cain stepped away from his shuttle and scanned over the carnage of what was Kankage. Flashes began to fill his mind of memories from the battle. Fighting with Atsuke. Being thrown down by Counter. Having the blade taken by Kamisori... and then... darkness.
Pressing his hand to his face, Cain felt the scars from the blows he'd suffered during the battle. On the ground still was the broken and rotten body of the once Sith Lord, Kamisori. Solemnly Cain lowered his head and turned off towards the woods. Many of the trees and branches had been broken, making it difficult to navigate the once familiar paths.
Finally coming to a clearing, Cain came across a lone hill overgrown with tall grass. Suddenly his memories flashed again. A blade stuck in the top of the hill. Cain's hand reaching out to grab it. Another hand grabbing his wrist. Looking up Cain see's a figure he cannot identify, covered in a black fog. As it's eyes open Cain can do nothing but scream...
Shaking off this memory, Cain looks back to the top of the hill. There is no sword there anymore. Slowly working his way back to the top, he notices something is covered by the grass. Pulling the grass away he uncovers a small headstone. 'Memorial to Carashi of Shadows' etched onto it... Then the pieces all seemed to fall into place for Cain...
"There was something deeply evil in that blade... Jack used to have entire conversations with himself that were recorded on that holocron. Conversations with someone... or something he referred to as Atsuke."
"Vaasek, Atsuke was the name of Jack's father."
"I can hear its voice in my mind's ear even now, as I write this letter. It's become increasingly difficult to know exactly which thoughts are my own and which are being imposed upon me."
"The blade of balance was not just a weapon, but in fact itself a living being. An entity with such a massive presence in the force that it actually leeches on to those it comes into contact with."
The image then of himself, plunging the blade into Carashi, his own father's heart in that cave on Korriban. Followed then by the images of his father's spirit that had appeared to him... on Chinine.
"You were never here, were you," Cain asked the headstone, shaking his head slowly, "I left you on Korriban... That power you taught me... to awaken the dead... what were you after?"
