The Course of History was changed forever...
When humanity stumbled upon the Cotu galaxy and discovered of its inhabitants. Unlike humankind, the natives of the Cotu galaxy had no weapons and had not seen war for millions of years. The humans allied themselves with the governments of the galaxy, helping them to re-arm themselves to the disdain of the Church of the Commen.
The Commen, a race of mystical and mysterious beings who's practices and techniques were strange to the newcomers, however, were more reluctant to. When they finally joined, the church began accepting humans and the Covenant of Allied Powers was born.
For nearly two centuries afterward, the Covenant grew greatly in military might, quickly becoming the dominant power in the galaxy. This advance in technology sparked the birth of the TerroAstran Croporation, which built multiple satellite complexes to manufacture the units the Covenant was asking for. But when TerroAstran began to heavily tax and reduce the pay of the workers on the satellite complexes, they cried out to form their own corporations.
TerroAstran became frightened of losing income, so they dispatched task forces to the complexes to regain control of them. This had the adverse effect, however, and the complexes declared war on TerroAstran. At first, they had much difficulty in dealing with the corporation, their military might just a small fraction of TerroAstran's mighty forces. When a human named Ethanius Messmier arose from the shadows and assumed control of the smaller corporations' efforts against TerroAstran, the war turned in their favor. His migh and military prowess won them many victories, and eventually, they invaded TerroAstran's main complex world of Beredeaux.
The smaller corporations won the fight and won their right to form their own corporations, thanks to Ethanius. After the conflict ended, peace returned to the galaxy and for over six centuries would last. During this era of peace, however, rumors of heretics within the Church of the Commen began to rise and suspicions around Saedorus Sylus began to form. In 875 PoS, the peace came to an abrupt end. Sylus, along with three other heretics, ventured to the far reaches of the galaxy and, in secret, built their own universe. The other three were killed in the process, but Saedorus survived, badly wounded. After the universe was created, he returned to the Church, not knowing they knew what he had done.
The church immediately put him to death in an attempt to destroy the Heresy, but it had the opposite effect. After his death on the planet of Citadael, the capital planet of the Commen, the Heretics became enraged beyond description or comparison and massacred every last Commen on the planet in a bloodbath unlike anything ever seen before. Knowing the Heresy would need a new leader, Saedorus' grandson Vinceion Sylus, assumed control of the Heresy.
The Heretics discovered of hidden technology that the church had been keeping secret from the rest of the galaxy and used it to attack the helpless Covenant. As their conquest continued, the Church released this technology and the Covenant immediately began to use it. This technology proved to be incredibly powerful, more than any other weapon ever invented or energy discovered. Using this technology, they retaliated against the Heretics little by little.
Eventually, the Heretics pushed out of the 1-3 quadrant of the galaxy and into the 9-12 quadrant to attack the system of Arterus, the backdoor to the Covenant's main production yards. They struck with deadly efficiency, conquering it in a little over a few days. Realizing they would use Arterus as a staging area to destroy their military capabilities, the Covenant assembled a massive force of incredible power to push the Heretics out of the system and back into the 1-3 quadrant.
But something else lies beneath Arterus' surface that only the highest members of the Church of the Commen know of, as far as they are aware. This has caused the church to dispatch a team of their warriors to discover what is underneath Arterus' surface and hopefully be able to put the Heresy to rest...
