First off, I'm bored and I just wanted to try to do something like this. I think it looks really cool at least, and I know it's from Star Trek but it would fit. DONE!
Name: Gaudy
Information: The Gaudy was developed on the new Vong colony on Teegeeack. It is grown from the same seedlings as the Coralskipper; however, Gaudy seedlings require very special care and a nearly perfectly stable climate. Even a few degrees of temperature change will result in a Coralskipper or a dead seedling.
Dimensions:
Length: 17-25 meters (varies between ship)
Width: 6-9 meters at the widest point (varies)
Wingspan: The Gaudy has no "wings" but it does have 3 pointed rudders around the tail used for steering. Each one is between 6 and 12 meters long.
Picture:
Ship Appearance: The Gaudy is a very long ship, shaped like a spear in some ways. The nose of the ship is comprised of 3 mandibles that may open to unleash its secret weapon, but they are usually kept closed for maneuvering. The ship's cockpit is located in a gray bulb just between 2 of the mandibles. This living cockpit can twist and rotate to give the pilot increased vision.
Weapon Payload: Each of the Gaudy's 3 mandibles are tipped by a Yaret-Kor that is slightly larger than the Yaret-Kor of a Coralskipper. Because of the positions of the Yaret-Kor, Gaudy can only fire them straight ahead.
The Gaudy's most frightening weapon is held inside of its mandibles. When the ship is stationary, the mandibles break open (taking the entire Gaudy with them) to reveal a gaping maw in the center of the ship's nose. This maw contains a specially engineered, Shock Worm creature several meters long and capable of launching itself up to a hundred meters from the ship and latching onto an enemy ship. Once latched onto a target, this worm will sacrifice itself and release an energy pulse into the target strong enough to disable some ship's systems, that works similar to an Ion Cannon Blast. The only difference is that it is stronger, the equivalent of three Ion Cannon strikes (like the kind from a Y-Wing).
***NOTE: Each Gaudy only carries ONE (1) of these Shock Worms. After launching the Shock Worm, the Gaudy is dead in space.
The Gaudy also carries 1,000 tiny, star shaped, Sensor Jammers. They are actually a special version of the Dovin Basal. While carried, the Jammers prevent the Gaudy from being locked onto or seen on sensors; however they can also leave the ship and attach themselves to an enemy ship, scrambling its sensors and communications.
***NOTE: It takes about 500 of the Jammers to successfully scramble sensors, so 1 Gaudy likely only carries enough to scramble 2 ships, or 1 ship and itself.
Defensive Systems: The hull of the Gaudy is comprised of a special, rapidly regenerative Yorik Coral, 2 meters thick in most places. This special coral can heal itself from laser blasts in a few minutes, granting the ship a longer life. However it is far from invulnerable and even a few repeated hits will kill the ship.
The Gaudy also carries a pair of Dovin Basals, dedicated to only shielding the ship from attacks. Because of this, it is much more difficult to confuse the Basals and destroy the ship. However, these two Basals may also work against each other and rip the ship apart if their Blackholes get too close together.
The Gaudy, just like the Vong, is unable to be seen through the Force.
Sensor Systems: The Gaudy has no sensors whatsoever, however it can alert the pilot to a lock on. All targeting must be done with the naked eye in combination with the living weapons of the ship.
Engines: The Gaudy is propelled by a single Dovin Basal. It is not the most agile ship and is able to be outperformed by most smaller ships. The Gaudy has no Hyperdrive system, but it is capable of traveling for several days without landing.
Classification: I don't know, maybe a Cruiser or something?
Recommend Price: 2,500 Credits (because of the special weapons)
