Ryuu's freighter exited hyperspace over the planet Chinine and its lone moon Kagelun. The ship settled down on the planet's surface not far from the ruins of Kankage, a place Ryuu knew all too well. He had spent much of his early childhood in this place... but these were not happy memories. Most of what he could remember of his mother was her taking ill and being dragged out to this backwater planet by Alex.
It was nighttime already, though morning was not too far off. Ryuu had almost forgotten how could it could get on Chinine at night. A thin layer of frost covered the ground and all the trees, almost appearing as if a fresh snow had fallen. As soon as Ryuu's boots hit the ground, the feelings of anguish and despair that he had long since locked away from his childhood began to resurface. These emotions were a necessary evil, they would fuel the dark side within him for what was to come.
Still without so much of a word he began to lead the way into Kankage. The village was just a clearing that contained a loose collection of stones that appeared as if they may have a one point been the foundations of houses. Between the scattered stones were what may have been dirt roads that now were overgrown with tall grass. There was one hut that still had one of its walls standing. The walls on the other three sides were only piled one or two stones high, though the shape of the hut was still visible as a neat litttle square. Ryuu stepped inside and stared at the metal skeleton of what once was a cot. It was blackened which suggested most of what was in the hut had been burned in a fire long ago.
Ryuu stared down at the cot for what seemed like a long time, a deep sadness in his eyes. Quietly snow began to fall around him as he shut his eyes tightly, a single tear rolling down his cheek, "This was our home..." Ryuu finallly said, trailling off. There was clearly more on his mind, but he couldn't seem to put any of it into words.

Carefully following her Master, Ama braced herself as they wandered onto the surface of Chinine. It too, like Korriban was chilly and dead, the thin layer of ice over the ground and the trees cracking and crumbling beneath their feet. Here too, all was dead, though the whispers of the long expired seemed to fill the air, nearly tangible. With silent, sure feet the Twi'lek followed, wondering faintly to herself what this new planet meant to them.
As they walked the remnants of a long destroyed village scattered about them, stones piled up with charred huts everywhere. Ryuu, despite the vast changes of his village seemed to know exactly where he was going. Careful and quiet to keep from disturbing his thoughts, for he seemed so lost in them, she followed behind, awaiting any instructions.
"This was our home..."
Turning about, the woman glanced over her Master and for the first time, didn't know how to react. So overwhelmed by emotion, this was not the cool and collected man Ama knew, even a tear rolling down his eye. Even when he had his confrontation with his 'brother' there was no response like this. What to do? What to do?
Silently, extending a long fingered hand to brush the tear away from his cheek, Ama shuddered. Unable to bring herself to comfort him anymore, brown eyes fell to the ground, to the metal skeleton of the burnt cot. Dealing with others was proving to be much more difficult than she had anticipated.

Many emotions ran through Ryuu's head when he saw that little cot again. Sadness for his mother who had spent the final years of her life on it. Guilt for having left her behind. Anger towards his father for taking her here and drawing out her suffering in a mad, misguided attempt to try and save her. Anger... Ryuu's pain quickly twisted itself into a small inferno of rage, all focused towards his father, Alex Drake. He failed the Jedi... he failed Sarah... and so blinded was he by these failures and the need to hold onto the past that he neglected his only son. Ryuu had hated him for that for many years, but his time with the Jedi had taught him to bury his feelings deep down. It wasn't until Ryuu ran into the shattered shell of a man his father had become that his hatred was rekindled.
Ryuu quickly jerked away from Ama as she attempted to comfort him. He did not want to turn away from this pain, nor did he wish to try and mask it. The dark side was strong in this place. The village was nothing but a wound now, created by death and suffering over countless millenia. Ryuu sat down in the center of the hut and took the holocron out from his robes, placing it on the ground in front of him. He coaxed the small pyramid ever so slightly with the dark side, causing the holocron to come to live. An image projected over it, flickering on and off. It was a Sith in regal attire, his eyes glazed over white as if it were a corpse before him. This was without a doubt Freedon Nadd.
"What pathetic creatures have disturbed me this time?" The avatar of Nadd asked, looking over the Human and his Twi'lek companion, "More so called Sith Lords seeking the power of the ancients?"
"I've sought your holocron to learn the secrets of Sith sorcery and Sith Magic," Ryuu responded coldly.
"And for what purpose would you seek such power?" Nadd asked, "For power is only the means to an end, not the end itself. What end to you hope to achieve by unlocking such arcane dark power?"
"My ambition is to... kill a certain man," Ryuu said, the hate burning just below the surface beginning to bubble up with his words, "The Lord of the Sith... Darth Cain."
"Indeed... so shall it ever be. Sith destroys Sith. I can help you both achieve this, apprentice, but first you must be ready to give yourselves completely to the dark side. For those who seek to use Sith sorcery must have a natural affinity for the dark arts."
Ryuu nodded, he was ready to learn. Hopefully Ama would be as well. He could use her when the time came to confront the Dark Lord himself, and the more powerful she became the better.

Ryuu had only just begun his training with Freedon Nadd when he felt it. What was this disgusting feeling in the force? There was only one man capable of creating such negative energy... and if he were being forced to exert it in such large amounts... it was an opportunity that may never come again.
"This incantation can be incredibly useful in hiding your presence, especially in the presence of Jedi," Nadd said, Ryuu was only half listening before snapping back to his senses and nodding. He repeated the ritual that Freedon had shown him. It was difficult to maintain, but with proper concentration Ryuu was certain he would get the hang of it.
Unable to contain himself any longer, Ryuu stood up, "Ama, I'm sure you've felt it too. This may be our chance..." Ryuu gathered up the holocron and placed it in his robes, "Come on. Our window will be slim." Ryuu hurried back to his ship. He didn't know exactly where it was he was going to end up but the force was guiding him. Lifting the ship off into orbit, Ryuu concentrated on where the waves of darkness were emanating from. After locating the source Ryuu checked the navicomputer for any planets along that direction. The first that was displayed "Nal Hutta/ Nar Shaddaa". Ryuu entered the coordinates and made the jump into hyperspace.
