is it alright if I have a cybernetic arm w/ glove attachments that my character modified himself? the materials used include mandolarian iron mixed with trace amounts of cortosis that are reinforced. The attachments include: vibroblade fingertip extensions for offensive purposes(like retractable claws) which a mini-hologram projecter (in the palm of the hand, used to project a digital keyboards, fake fingerprints) also in the fingers that can deploy a considerable number of internal rod-like "fingers", letting my character type many times faster than normal, due to the sheer amount of "fingers", the ability to split the "fingers" in half. In the forearm of the cybernetic limb, there are empty, yet rechargeable power cells to absorb electricity from various sources, but can redirect said electricty by direct contact only with cybernetic limb, due to the limitations on the body of a non-force wielder. He can however use his nerve endings connected to his cybernetic limb to use his claws. There is also a computer interface on the forearm that takes up about 2/3s of the arm, with one plug in, which has a wireless receiver that sends a signal to customized goggles, which will be expanded upon soon, as I'm working on the kinks. I also am having a memory and reflex chip put into his brain to further optimize his hacking capabilities and such. dude, Ghost In The Shell is the best! I have the first dvd and watched the whole first season...Motoko was fricken amazing....^.^

why not just say your robotic hand can type really fast?
also, explain the holoprojector again. especially the fake fingerprints part.

I think that Cyphurtu meant was that it uses the same technology as a holodroid which can project a hologram over it's self. Like how it projects a hologram over it's self to change it's appearance and such to fool print scanners that require fingerprints.
That's just what I got out of it Mik.....

But that would not work because a fingerprint scanner does not work that way. A holograph has no substance along with the fact a finger print scanner must be pushed up against it (or the ones I every seen). Then it reads the sections which are pushed in more the rest of the surface (giving the scan).

he almost succeeded with my abandonment of the site but instead, i won the skirmish........either that or he was just really really pissed at me and i decided to just give up and deal with it......i like to think of it as winning ^.^

okay, so aside from the fake fingerprints, is there anything else that I need to further change so I can actually put this arm to use? I went with ghost in the shell for the "fingers" because it would type faster then just five cybernetic fingers, also, typing that fast with those fingers would leave dents in the surface my character would be typing, leaving very visable evidence that he was there, and that's not what I'm going for. I went with a holographic keyboard so hacking wouldn't be as big of a hassle on my character, lugging around keyboards in a backpack to connect to various interfaces, that's just foolhardy, so I've been concieveing for just a holograhic keypad to type on would be actually on a fine mesh and be able to change for various interfaces and languages, so I can scratch or further modify on that thumbprint thing, but I don't want a "God hand" , just a really cool hacking system based in his right arm. whatever further criticisms you have, let me know, for I want this arm to be functional and legal here

Enter button.... push it. second, holographic keyboard wouldn't work for two reasons. first being that the hologram of the keyboard would move with the projector in your palm. as you move your hand closer to it, it would move away from your hand. second being that trying to type on it would result in your fingers moving through empty air. holograms have no substance or solidity which is also why the fake fingerprint device wouldn't work. You might consider using a regular old datapad customized for slicing. Third, and finally. you'll leave a dent in the keyboard your trying to type on? Is your character an oversized guerrilla? There's a difference between typing fast and smashing the thing with your fist. Furthermore, why would you need to type so fast that you need to have extra fingers? Just seems a bit ridiculous. |

sorry, I'm long-winded. the thing is what types faster without speed boost, 5 fingers for one hand, or 50 fingers for one hand. Also, I'm making it so that that datapad is made of very fine mesh, therefore, I'm not hitting thin air, but the projector in the hand is projecting on to the mesh, which is connected to the hand, therefore is compact for quick interstellar travel. I also can do the work of several droids in one hand, therefore if I further expanded on it if I wish to, could pilot my own ship without a droid brain, but I have no desire to.
Also thinking of force and speed ratios, yeah you can go fast and light, but the main fingers here made with combat in mind, it's pretty much a stun baton with hacking interfaces put into it. yeah it's mandolorian, it's only up to the foremar too, not even to the elbow, and I'm no force-user, so my character's body does have it's limits, so I have to hold the arm still, and my arm will fatigue, therefore pounding into the surface the mesh is on.

your arm gets tired... so that makes your fingers smash into buttons?
i'm going to suspend my disbelief for a moment and pretend that your forearm can actually do the work of several droids. If thats the case, why type at all? just plug into the computer and access it's systems directly? You already said it has interfaces for slicing.
and your mesh thing... well. It's a thing all right. still trying to figure out how typing on a mesh is better then just using a datapad or a mesh would even work. I'd take one of those roll up keyboards long before i ever bothered with some weird mesh/hologram combo.

that's mainly so I don't get hacked by some other guy, also I can use the mesh as to something to type on, doesn't mean it's transparent, it's like a mousepad. also gravity applies, where ever there is natural or artificial gravity, there is still gravity and it continues to push onto my character's arm, and since it's not pure mandolorian iron, the weight still applies and fatigues what muscles are left in his arm. I'm thinking of normal human limitations.
Also in terms of doing the work of several droids, the typing speed would rival the work of several droids so I can have a near foolproof way from getting sliced by other users, ect.
Also mesh is lighter then a datapad, which is makes it less of a burden on my guy, also, regular datapads again would be too cumbersome, also a regular datapad can't type in various languages, unless it was huge enough to accomodate them, and that's like haulging around a fucking pipe organ, which just great if I want to draw attention from crackshots and the like.
again the mesh would basically fall off of his palm, flatten into a typing a surface, and can accomadate just about any galatic language that has a writing system, so I can hack pretty much any interface/terminal. So the holographic projector would still apply, as the the mesh is attached to his hand, the only thing needed is a surface to type on. also since it's holograhic, it can compact and expand when needed.
