The Phoenix came out of hyperspace at the coordinates of the distress call. The ships sensors instantaneously picked up what was occurring. A group of three bulk transports were being attacked by four Y-wings, two Z-95 and off in the distance was a Mu class shuttle waiting to board them. Of the three transports, one shield was only at twenty percent and the other two were at ninety percent.
Elizabeth turned to Kitana, who was sitting on the floor next to a bulkhead. "What should we go after first?" Elizabeth was thinking that it would be best to hit the Y-wings, as their ion cannons posed the greatest threat to the convoy.
However Kitana had already determined that the Mu class shuttle was a better target. "I personally would take out the shuttle. The pirates well stop their attack if the shuttle be destroyed. There would be no way to collect their rewards without it." Kitana closed her eyes after she told Elizabeth. She drew on the force to inspire the crew of Phoenix while at the same time demoralize the pirates.

The Phoenix flew at full speed at the transport. As it made its way through space, two of the four Y-wings broke off heading for them. Kitana continue to use battle meditation as Elizabeth commander the crew of the Phoenix.
The Phoenix cut the distance between them and the shuttle in a few seconds. On the outer edge of the composite beams range, Elizabeth had the targeting computer calculate a targeting solution. When the computer beeped Elizabeth sat down in her chair. "Fire." The words reverberated in the hearts of all the crew as it was the first time the weapons had been fired again another ship. The fire control officer pushed a button on the control panel and a single green beam shoot out from the centerline of the ship. It was aimed slightly ahead of the Mu-class shuttle and the ship has a small positive yaw which would continue to track the shuttle should it stay on course.
Thanks to Kitana's battle mediation, the shuttle crew and the eight pirate raiders on board did not have time to react. The composite beam slammed right into the cockpit and the continuous beam quickly overwhelmed the weak shields. As it continue to slam into the cockpit, the structural integrity fail, removing it completely from the rest of the shuttle. The shuttle was dead in space and all aboard would have also decompressed. The Phoenix scored the first and most devastating blow, but all it did was to enrage the rest of the pirate's fighters and turn their attention towards the Phoenix.

The crew of the Phoenix were firing on all four cylinders, not missing a beat. Port bow thrusters and the aft starboard thrusters fired a long burst rocketing the ship sideways. Elizabeth sat in her seat on the holographic bridge and as the ship rotated she spoke quickly. "All batteries open fire." The order was carried out almost instantly, due to the battle meditation. The sweeping wall of energy struck one of the Z-95 and one of the Y-wings. The weapons practically vaporized the two fighters, as they were designed to take on capital ships. After the sweeping blow Elizabeth stood up. "Flank Speed. Set a course directly at the Y-wings. All batteries open fire right after the Y-wings." The Phoenix cut through space at incredible speed.

The Phoenix closed quickly on the remaining Y-wings. Elizabeth ordered her shields all to the forward arc and once the Y-wings open fired so did they. Thanks to the battle meditation which Kitana was performing, the fire happened just at the right moment to catch one of the Y-wings with a quad laser fire. It quickly cut threw it’s shields and started to same into the nose. The Y-wings quickly broke off from their attack, the Phoenix had blooded the pirates nose enough that they quickly retreated to hyperspace.
This victory was short lived however as soon as they entered hyperspace a transmission of the Union headquarters was sent. It seemed that that all Union ships were requested in Criss space. Kitana looked over at Elizabeth and the crew pulled the jump coordinates from the computer. She was going to shave it close to real space to get there as quickly as possible. The Phoenix wished the convoy good fortune and jumped to hyperspace.
